2nd Annual Overlea ArtsFest – Saturday, May 13th, 2017
10 am til 6 pm – Natural History Society – 6908 Belair Rd., 21206
Overlea Community Association presents the 2nd annual “Overlea ArtsFest!” This fundraising event features live performances, art demonstrations, a juried art exhibit, art vendors, and family art activities all day. The festival showcases music by Sherri Robbins, The Lushpockets and Josie Baltimore, poetry performances by Slangston Hughes, Marie Abate, Jessica Lynn Dotson and Fred Collins, and sculpture by 2014 Baker Artists Award winner Ed Gross. Food and refreshments are available from food vendors Zen West and Dessert at Jessica’s.
Overlea ArtsFest 2017 will benefit “Nature Connections,” a hands-on art and nature exploration program series for kids and families at the Natural History Society. The Natural History Society offers year-round “citizen science” education programs for all ages including nature hikes, drawing classes, expert lectures and more. Their collection of fossils, insects, animals and minerals dates back to the early 1800s. For more info about the NHS, visit their website at www.marylandnature.org.
Exciting live art demos and activities at ArtsFest include stained glass creation by The Artists’ Corner, kids’ crafts by Holt Center for the Arts and Rosedale Public Library, and family art activities by Artist & Craftsman.
The Juried Art Show will include painting, illustration, sculpture, photography, ceramics and short film. Prizes will be awarded for the Best in Show in each category. Attendees can also participate by voting for their favorites with the People’s Choice Awards.
This event is made possible by generous grants from Baltimore County Government, and from Rosedale Federal Savings & Loan Association.
