Welcome to the Overlea ArtsFest! The Overlea ArtsFest is a family-friendly annual arts festival and juried art show organized by the Overlea Community Association to celebrate the visual & performing arts, and to promote local artists and their work. Artists of all genres and all levels of experience are welcome to submit their work to compete for prizes in up to eight different juried categories. Professional local singers, bands and dance groups, as well as some talented student choirs and musicians from the Overlea area, entertain the festival attendees throughout the day. Community organizations such as Holt Park & Center for the Arts and the Rosedale Public Library provide a variety of “make-and-take” art activities for attendees of all ages. Food vendors are available with a wide selection of foods, desserts and drinks. ArtsFest is made possible by a grant from Baltimore County Government, and sponsorship from Rosedale Federal Savings & Loan Association.
Admission is free. Artists are not charged a fee to submit their work, nor are they charged a commission on any work sold during the show, which makes ArtsFest a very “pro-artist” event. The goal of the ArtsFest Committee is to provide a respectful and joyful experience for both the artists and the performers, as well as the attendees of the event. Since it began just a few years ago in 2016, as the cherished dream of a handful of dedicated board members, ArtsFest has gained much attention. With professional event organizer and local artist Mark S. Sanders positioned as head curator and event planner, to direct its focus and inspire its future, the Overlea ArtsFest made its debut with a polish not often seen in first-time events. The scope and professionalism of the festival was recognized with a special citation award by Councilwoman Cathy Bevins in its very first year. ArtsFest grew so quickly that it had to move to a larger venue for its 2018 event.
The Overlea Community is proud of its arts festival, and we welcome artists and art lovers alike to join us in making Overlea a supportive place for the entire arts community.See you at the ArtsFest!
