President’s Address

Hello Overlea Residents and Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone is keeping warm this holiday season.  Within this newsletter, you’ll find evidence of a lot of hard work and exciting goings-on in Overlea this past summer and fall!  First, on behalf of the entire OCA membership and board, I’m extending a BIG thank you to Jason Kamrath and Brett Robinson for stepping in to manage the Overlea Farmers Market this year.  They did a fantastic job finding new, exciting vendors and helping showcase our local businesses’ charms to customers from near and far!  …I’m not the only one looking forward to enjoying a beautiful Jade Farm Thanksgiving turkey this year, and we have them to thank!  The OCA Grant Committee has worked with Jason & Brett to request another year’s funding from Baltimore County for this wonderful community event, which we will compliment with donated volunteer hours and member dues funding. Fingers crossed!

Second, thank you to ALL who have signed up for 2019–2020 membership!  We use membership funds to support our community website (; print the free newsletter you’re reading; support free events like the Farmers Market, Artsfest, Christmas Tree Lighting; match funding for Belair Rd.’s flowerpots; support Citizens on Patrol; and lots more! We truly appreciate your dues; they make a huge difference in our community!  Please don’t forget that if you want to vote on OCA issues in the upcoming year and receive email bulletins about community happenings, you must be a member of the OCA.  As a reminder, we are not a city or county entity, we are an entirely volunteer community group!  Thanks to Doris Poling for heading our membership committee and sharing what we do far and wide!

As always, if you’d like to get involved in your community, we always welcome help and fresh perspectives!  Openings for committees include: Farmers Market Committee, ArtsFest Committee, Grant Committee, Greening Committee, New Neighbor Welcome Committee, and the Business Development/Zoning Committee.  Want to start a new committee?  Let me know!

Please feel free to email me at to learn about getting involved.

Happy Holidays!

Caitlin Ceryes, President, OCA
